Most “girls’ trips” at sea are about cocktails and photos. This is different. Outer Passage is a sail‑training program first, you’ll trim sails, take the helm, practice mooring and anchoring, and learn passage planning in a supportive, women‑centered environment. Our women instructors will tailor the coaching to your experience and goals. And because learning and fun belong together, we balance the coaching with time to relax: stretch, swim and snorkel, go for a hike, then enjoy sundowners once we’re secured for the night, with unhurried cockpit dinners. This trip is designed for women who want to become more involved and comfortable aboard a sailing boat, whether you already sail regularly, are usually sailing alongside a partner, or are stepping aboard a catamaran for the first time.
You can take the helm, trim sails, navigate, help choose our route and work through the everyday decisions involved in cruising from island to island. There’s no pressure to arrive with a certain level of experience and no expectation that everyone wants to learn the same things.
And it’s still the Caribbean. Between sailing legs, there will be time for swimming, snorkeling, exploring ashore, sharing meals and enjoying some pretty spectacular anchorages.

Training happens naturally throughout the week and is tailored to the women aboard.
We may work on helming, sail trim and handling, anchoring, navigation, weather, route planning, boat systems and maneuvering, along with the communication and teamwork that make sailing as a crew work well.
A one-way trip also gives us some longer inter-island sailing legs, making this a great opportunity to move beyond short day sails and experience what it feels like to plan and complete passages between islands.

We’ll begin in Guadeloupe, where the first day is spent settling aboard Tiger Lily, getting familiar with the boat, completing our safety orientation and talking through the week ahead. Once underway, everyone is encouraged to become part of sailing the boat from the start.
Possible stops along our route include:
Les Saintes, with its protected bays, small village and beautiful island scenery.
Dominica, where rainforest-covered mountains meet the sea and our stop could include anything from exploring ashore to simply enjoying a quiet anchorage.
Martinique, where we’ll finish our journey after sailing south through the island chain.
We keep the itinerary flexible rather than trying to check off every destination. Conditions may encourage us to linger somewhere we love, change anchorages or make a longer sailing leg when the weather is right.

Late January and early February are prime Caribbean sailing months, with warm temperatures and the easterly trade winds that define sailing in the Lesser Antilles. Winter tradewinds commonly run around 15–20 knots, although stronger periods and increased sea state are always possible.
Because we’ll be crossing between islands rather than staying entirely in protected waters, conditions will play an important role in our route and departure times.

It is suggested to book local accommodations for the evening prior to and after our planned departure / arrival.

Pricing is per cabin (sleeps two), so book it for yourself or bring a friend, sister, or partner and split the rate! Solo travelers, we’ve got you too; just contact us and we’ll be happy to pair you up with another solo gal to share a cabin!
Includes all meals, drinks, snacks, sundowners, and mooring fees while onboard. Travel to/from the vessel and shore-based meals or expenses are not included.
