UsVI to Bermuda (9 Days)

Offshore Sailing Experience - 950NM / 9 Days

Details:

This passage follows the iconic “I-65 corridor,” taking us from the warm trade winds of the Caribbean into the more complex weather patterns of the North Atlantic. Departing from the USVI, we’ll prepare the boat, review systems, and wait for a safe and favorable weather window before making our way north toward Bermuda.

It’s an ideal trip for anyone looking to gain offshore experience, practice real-world decision-making, and disconnect from shore life for a meaningful stretch at sea.

  • You’ll be fully immersed in life offshore—taking part in a rotating watch schedule, sailing through day and night, and working as part of the crew. Instruction is hands-on and tailored to your experience. Topics may include:

    • Offshore route planning and weather forecasting

    • Watchkeeping and night sailing

    • Sail trim and reefing

    • Radar, AIS, and offshore navigation tools

    • Safety at sea and emergency protocols

    • Boat systems and daily maintenance underway

  • You’ll board in St. Thomas and have time to settle in, get oriented, and prepare the boat. Depending on the weather, we may spend a day or so training locally before departure. Once conditions align, we’ll head north toward Bermuda, typically a 5–7 day passage.

On arrival in St. George’s, you’ll have time to decompress, explore ashore, and reflect on your passage.

  • Expect a wide range of conditions—this is the North Atlantic, after all. The early part of the trip typically brings consistent tradewinds, followed by a transition zone and variable systems as we approach Bermuda. We might see everything from light air to squalls, lulls to strong breeze. Sometimes it’s bouncy, sometimes it’s beautiful—that’s part of what makes ocean sailing so rewarding. We monitor weather closely and choose the safest and most strategic routing based on current forecasts.

  • Fly In:

    • Cyril E. King International Airport (STT), St. Thomas

    Boarding Point:

    • Dinghy pickup in Charlotte Amalie harbor, St. Thomas (exact location depends on the conditions and will be provided closer to trip start date)
