TRANS-ATLANTIC! Canaries to Caribbean (21 Days)

Offshore Sailing Experience - 2800NM / 21 Days

Details:

Check off that bucket list item and experience crossing an ocean with Outer Passage as part of the ARC, hosted by World Cruising Club. This unforgettable transatlantic adventure combines the thrill of a classic trade-wind passage with the camaraderie of one of the world’s best-known ocean rallies. Enjoy days of spinnaker sailing, surfing down Atlantic swells, and plenty of time at the helm. Embrace the rhythm of passagemaking as you become part of the full crew experience, from sail handling and weather routing to the essential rest and relaxation of off-watch life.

  • Our passages can be as informative and lesson-oriented as you wish. Throughout the passage, you will receive hands-on training in every aspect of sailing, making our program a true experiential sailing experience! Some common topics include weather forecasting, route planning, sail trim, safety at sea, radar navigation, boat handling, and anchoring / mooring.

  • Arrive aboard with plenty of time to unpack, settle in, and enjoy a full orientation of the beautiful Balance 526. We will be making our transatlantic passage as part of the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), organized by World Cruising Club, with the skippers’ briefing on November 21 and the rally start to Saint Lucia on November 22. In the days before departure, we will focus on onboard familiarization, sail handling, safety procedures, and final passage preparations. When departure day arrives, we will point the bow southwest and set off across the Atlantic for Saint Lucia in the Caribbean.

  • The transatlantic passage is shaped by the Atlantic trade winds, bringing classic downwind sailing conditions we head west from the Canary Islands toward the Caribbean. Expect changing ocean weather, rolling Atlantic swell, warm days, starry nights, and the possibility of passing squalls; all part of the adventure of crossing an ocean under sail.

    • Fly into Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) in Las Palmas on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria
