Offshore Sailing & Cruising Experience - 150NM / 5 Days
AVAILABLE
Boat: Tiger Lily
Crew: Phoebe & Braden
Price: $7,800 per cabin / $14,040 whole boat
Details:
Join us aboard Tiger Lily for a five-day blend of Caribbean cruising and passage making, beginning in St. Martin and finishing in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
We’ll spend time cruising and sailing locally while watching the weather for the right conditions to make the downwind run to the USVI.
This shorter trip still gives us purposeful time underway, building miles and confidence. It’s a good fit for guests who want a focused sailing experience with plenty of hands-on time aboard.
-
This trip offers a little of both sides of cruising life: relaxed time exploring the islands and the experience of preparing for and completing a longer passage.
Before and after the passage, there may be time to cruise locally, anchor, swim, explore ashore and enjoy life aboard. Once underway, the focus shifts to passage making; settling into time at sea, taking the helm, trimming sails, navigating and watching the conditions evolve around us.
With the prevailing easterly trade winds, the St. Martin to USVI leg can offer a fantastic downwind sail and a very different experience.
-
This trip gives guests the chance to experience both coastal cruising and passage preparation.
Training may include helming, sail handling and trim, anchoring, navigation, weather interpretation, route planning and passage preparation. During the offshore leg, guests can also experience how the crew settles into longer periods underway and manages the boat over longer durations.
-
We’ll begin in St. Martin, where the first day is spent settling aboard Tiger Lily, completing our safety orientation and looking at the forecast together.
From there, we may spend some time cruising around St. Martin while waiting for the best weather window. When conditions are right, we’ll depart on a direct sail to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Once we arrive, any remaining time can be spent cruising within the USVI before the trip comes to an end.
The timing of the passage will be driven by the weather rather than a fixed daily schedule, that planning and decision-making is part of the experience.
-
April generally brings warm temperatures and established easterly trade winds through the northern Caribbean.
We’ll be looking for a favorable window for the westbound passage, ideally giving us a comfortable downwind run toward the Virgin Islands. Wind strength and sea state will determine exactly when we depart.
-
Arrival: Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM)
Departure: Cyril E. King Airport (STT), St. Thomas
If your schedule allows, we recommend adding one day more on either side of the passage to explore the islands.
-
Our prices are all-inclusive once aboard, covering meals, snacks, refreshments, evening sundowners, and mooring or docking fees.
Not included: Transportation to/from the program and meals/drinks ashore.
