Spend seven days sailing through Guadeloupe and Les Saintes aboard Tiger Lily, exploring a part of the Caribbean that feels especially well suited to life by boat.

Our route will take us between some of Guadeloupe’s favorite anchorages and neighboring islands, such as Les Saintes and the possibility of reaching Marie-Galante depending on the conditions.

This is a coastal cruising experience built around sailing, learning and exploring rather than following a fixed vacation itinerary. Some days may mean a few hours under sail followed by an afternoon swimming and exploring ashore; others may involve a longer sailing leg as we move between islands.

This week is about sailing, learning and enjoying life aboard Tiger Lily while exploring what the French Caribbean has to offer.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take the helm, trim sails, help with anchoring, navigation and route planning, or simply enjoy the ride. Between sailing days, there’s time to swim, snorkel, explore ashore and settle into the slower pace of life at anchor.
It’s hands-on when you want it to be, relaxed when you don’t, and shaped by the weather, the boat and the group aboard.
This is a hands-on sailing experience, but it isn’t a formal course with a fixed curriculum. We tailor the training to your experience level and what you’d most like to learn.
Over the week, we’ll work through sail handling and trim, helming, anchoring and mooring, navigation, weather and route planning, boat systems, maneuvering and the everyday decision-making that goes into cruising a performance catamaran.
For anyone considering their own cruising boat or simply wanting more meaningful time aboard this is a chance to see how all those pieces fit together during a real week of island hopping.
We keep our itineraries flexible so we can make the most of the weather, sailing conditions and the interests of everyone aboard.
Day 1 – Welcome aboard in Guadeloupe
Arrive, settle into your cabin and get familiar with the boat. We’ll spend some time on introductions, safety, boat systems and the week ahead before getting underway for our first anchorage. From the beginning, guests are encouraged to get involved at the helm, with sail handling and in the decisions that shape our route.
From there, the week may include a mix of sailing, exploring ashore, swimming, snorkeling and time simply enjoying the anchorages. Possible stops include:
- Les Saintes: a beautiful protected bay, colorful waterfront village, hiking and plenty of places to explore ashore.
- Marie-Galante: a quieter island known for its beaches, small villages, sugarcane fields and traditional rum distilleries.
- Guadeloupe’s southern coastline: Experience secluded anchorages
- Pigeon Island: Dive into Cousteau Reserve’s famous snorkeling spots with vibrant marine life.
We’ll use the forecast, sea state and wind to choose the route that gives us the best week on the water.
January is an excellent time to sail Guadeloupe, with warm temperatures, generally drier conditions and steady easterly trade winds.
Expect daytime temperatures around 79–84°F (26–29°C) and sea temperatures near 80°F / 27°C. Brief showers and stronger trade winds are possible, so we keep the route flexible and choose anchorages based on the conditions.
Once we leave port, we get what we get. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable beat, and other times a blissful downwind run. Simply put, we do not control the weather, but that’s part of the adventure! We will make the best of it, no matter the conditions.

- We strongly recommend arriving at least one day before boarding, giving you time to settle in and leaving room for delays.
- If your schedule allows, adding a night or two ashore before or after the passage is worthwhile, there is considerably more to Guadeloupe than we can explore from the boat in a single week.
Pricing is fully inclusive onboard, covering meals, snacks, beverages, evening sundowners, and mooring fees.
Not included: transportation to/from the vessel and meals/drinks ashore.
