Set sail on a week-long hands-on voyage through the U.S. Virgin Islands—an ideal setting to build sailing skills and experience life aboard. With warm trade winds, protected waters, and a variety of anchorages, the USVI offers the perfect environment for both learning and laid-back island cruising. Whether you’re at the helm for the first time or building confidence to skipper your own boat, this trip blends practical seamanship, real-time decision making, and plenty of time to relax and enjoy the ride.
SAILing focus:
This passage is all about learning by doing. You’ll be involved in every aspect of life aboard—from sail trim and helming to navigation and anchoring—at a pace that fits your comfort and experience level. Topics we regularly cover include:

There’s no rush, just the daily rhythm of sailing, learning, and settling into life on the water.
ITINERARY:
Our route will adapt to weather and group goals, but possible stops include:
St. Thomas – Where the journey begins, with beautiful bays and lively marinas
Christmas Cove – A protected anchorage perfect for your first night on anchor
Maho or Francis Bay – Calm waters for swimming, hiking and stargazing
Salt Pond or Lameshur Bay – Quiet, off-the-beaten-path anchorages
Waterlemon Cay – Snorkeling and great views near historic ruins
Expect 3–5 hours of sailing each day, with time to swim, explore ashore, or relax on deck. Our flexible itinerary balances skill-building with island time.
WEATHER:
The U.S. Virgin Islands enjoy reliable trade winds and warm tropical weather year-round, making them ideal for sailing. Expect steady easterly winds ranging from 10–20 knots—perfect for both relaxed cruising and skill-building under sail. Occasional passing showers help keep the islands lush but rarely disrupt the day. Our route and daily plans are always flexible, shaped by the conditions to ensure safe, comfortable, and rewarding time on the water.
Travel Logistics:
Fly via Cyril E. King International Airport (STT) in St. Thomas, dinghy pickup near Charlotte Amalie.
Dinghy pickup/drop-off near Charlotte Amalie, but the approximate location will depend on current weather conditions which we will coordinate prior to your arrival day. However the island is small and taxis are plentiful!
Please book local accommodations for the evening prior to and after our planned departure / arrival. Flexible bookings are always preferred, though we do our best to depart and arrive on schedule.
You have the option to spend the night onboard before and/or after, if you wish. This includes dinner and a light breakfast, with arrival after 4pm, and departure at 9am.*
PRICE:
Includes all meals, drinks, snacks, sundowners, and mooring fees while onboard. Travel to/from the vessel and shore-based meals or expenses are not included.

Extra Night Aboard - $400* per night.
