Newport to Boston (7 Days)

Coastal Cruising Experience - 150NM /7 Days

Details:

Join Darren and Amanda aboard Loki for a weeklong passage from Newport to Boston, combining the beauty of New England’s coastline with the skills and confidence that come from real-world passage-making. Over seven sailing days, you’ll cruise between classic anchorages, practice the fundamentals of coastal navigation, and an option to experience a taste of night sailing. It’s the perfect blend of adventure, hands-on learning, and the simple joy of summer life on the water.

  • This trip is built around sailing from one picturesque anchorage to the next, giving you the best of both worlds: structured sai training during the day and peaceful evenings at anchor. You'll help plan each day’s route, take the helm, trim sails, and learn how to read currents, tides, and weather along the way.

If conditions line up, we may extend one day into a short overnight sail, giving you a chance to try night watches, navigation by instruments, and the magic of sailing under the stars. Throughout the week, you’ll enjoy swims, shoreline walks, quiet coves, and dinners aboard in true cruising style.

  • We choose our itinerary based on the weather, but expect daily sailing activities and excursions from one picturesque anchorage to another. Some highlights include:

    • Newport, RI – Vibrant sailing hub and departure port

    • Cuttyhunk – Quiet anchorage, island walks, and classic New England views

    • Hadley Harbor – Serene anchorage surrounded by nature

    • Provincetown – Colorful seaport, art scene, and a perfect stop

    • Plymouth Harbor – A well-protected anchorage with history and waterfront walks

    • Boston Harbor Islands – Scenic final approach with historic light stations

Every stop brings a mix of sailing, exploration, and time to settle into the rhythm of life aboard.

  • Expect warm temperatures (75–82°F / 24–28°C), southerly breezes (10–18 knots), and cooler evenings on the water. Summer in New England can bring light fog, afternoon sea breezes, and the occasional frontal passage which make excellent conditions for building real-world skills.

    • Fly into Providence (PVD) or Boston Logan (BOS)

    • Dinghy Pickup in Newport Harbor

    • Dinghy Drop-off in Boston

    • We recommend arriving the day before boarding. Boarding location and details will be provided prior to departure.
